This code of practice sets out the requirements for the provision of amenities for workers across NSW. These include drinking water, toilets, wash basins, dining facilities, seating and change rooms.
The provision of amenities needs to be suitable for the type of workplace. The employer must take into account:
- the nature of the work
- the size of the place of work
- the location of the place of work
- the numbers of men and women at the place of work
This includes consideration of whether a workplace is permanent or temporary.
Remember, the employer must consult with the workforce on all issues relating to their health, safety and welfare. If you think the facilities at your workplace are inadequate have a look at this code of practice as a first port of call.
