This code of practice sets the minimum requirements for work in hot and cold environments. The code sets out the health effects associated with work in extreme temperature and some tests to identify dangerous temperature extremes.
The code is scattered with useful tools for application in the workplace. The code provides identification of the most common environmental hazards, typical exposures and the possible effects.
The code goes on to identify factors which can effect the seriousness of the risk posed by an environmental extreme. For example, the nature of the work undertaken in an environment will effect the level of risk to which a worker is exposed.
Methods of measuring temperature are outlined, and controls that should be used are set out. This codes is also supported by useful tools that can be applied in a workplace situation.
