Agricultural work still remains one of the most dangerous occupations for Australian workers. This code provides guidance for the use and storage of chemicals and on how to protect the health of workers.
The code applies to employers, self-employed persons and employees engaged in the end use, storage and disposal of agricultural chemicals, includng pesticides and herbicides.
The code identifies the relevant pieces of legislation that apply to this area of work, which extend beyond just the OHS Act 2000 to include the Pesticides Act 1978. The code sets out the responsibilities of all parties, from designers and manufacturers to end users.
This code is supported by diagrams and step by step methods that must be followed to protect workers from the effects of chemical exposure.
